A vida &eacute; uma corrente em que &quot;Eu existo&quot;? Eu estou passando atrav&eacute;s do tempo?<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">Vamos explorar a pr&aacute;tica.Voc&ecirc; acredita em &quot;Eu tenho h&aacute;bitos mentais, problemas, que eu preciso trabalhar e mudar&quot;? Neste momento \u2013 o que lhe falta? Estando presente, &eacute; &quot;Agora eu sou diferente do que eu era antes&quot;? Ao avaliar o sentar, h&aacute; sentido em, &quot;Eu me sentei por alguns poucos dias e agora eu posso me sentir mais presente, mas samadhi, eu estou melhor&quot;?<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">Neste exato momento, o passado n&atilde;o se move para o presente e o presente para o futuro \u2013 passado movendo para o presente, presente para o futuro, s&atilde;o constru&ccedil;&otilde;es a partir de uma maneira autocentrada de ver e atuar (agir). Nossa pr&aacute;tica &eacute; estar presente. Se n&oacute;s enfatizarmos a aten&ccedil;&atilde;o, enfatizarmos a desaten&ccedil;&atilde;o, ou enfatizarmos a n&atilde;o-consci&ecirc;ncia, a pr&aacute;tica &eacute; consci&ecirc;ncia, viv&ecirc;ncia da experi&ecirc;ncia, esta &eacute; a pr&aacute;tica do agora . O apego &agrave; vis&atilde;o autocentrada, a pensamentos, cren&ccedil;as e rea&ccedil;&otilde;es, desliga-nos  da viv&ecirc;ncia da experi&ecirc;ncia da vida, da liberdade de responder. N&oacute;s estamos desligados da alegria, paz e satisfa&ccedil;&atilde;o que &eacute; nossa vida, e em vez disso vivermos no meio dos limites de cren&ccedil;as e rea&ccedil;&otilde;es e o sofrimento, dor e  danos resultantes. Notando presente o apego a pensamentos,  permita que o apego ocasionado pela vis&atilde;o autocentrada, permita que cren&ccedil;as que sejam insatisfat&oacute;rias, se tornem transparentes, para n&atilde;o limitarem a vida, respondendo agora, n&oacute;s somos a vida como ela &eacute;.<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">O agora contem passado, presente e futuro, todos juntos neste momento. Porque &eacute; agora, eu pratico. Porque &eacute; agora, a pr&aacute;tica alcan&ccedil;a alem do que eu supunha \u2013al&eacute;m de &quot;como isto funciona&quot;, e mesmo de &quot;como estar presente afeta meus pensamentos e h&aacute;bitos&quot;. O momento corpo-mente, estando presente agora, n&atilde;o est&aacute; limitado por meu entendimento. Exatamente agora est&aacute; a alegria, a paz, e a satisfa&ccedil;&atilde;o na vida. O agora &eacute; exatamente isto, estar exatamente neste momento. Agora &eacute; a corre&ccedil;&atilde;o (a cura) de parecer estar autocentrado, da cis&atilde;o entre o eu e o outro, do passado-futuro. O prosseguir na pr&aacute;tica &eacute; estar uno na mente, uno ao perceber pensamentos de apego, uno com o momento corp&oacute;reo, e uno nos prop&oacute;sitos. Agora cura o apego ao eu, &eacute; perceber pensamentos de apego ao que me fizeram, ao que eu fiz, de raiva, dor, os &quot;teria tido&quot;, todas as est&oacute;rias e sofrimentos de a&ccedil;&otilde;es e rea&ccedil;&otilde;es. Expressando arrependimento e pesar, aceitando a culpa e suas conseq&uuml;&ecirc;ncias, agora. Estando agora como o agora &eacute;.<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">H&aacute; um bom Koan (em Mumonkan  Case 28) a cerca de uma mulher idosa que vendia alimentos na estrada. Um monge viajante (Teshan) aproximou-se e pediu-lhe um . Ela perguntou-lhe, &quot;o que voc&ecirc; est&aacute; carregando em sua mochila&quot;. Ele disse, &quot;Oh, &eacute; o Sutra do Diamante e meus coment&aacute;rios sobre ele&quot; &quot;Oh&quot;, ela disse, &quot;bom, bom. O Sutra do Diamante diz, a mente do passado &eacute; inating&iacute;vel, a mente presente &eacute; inating&iacute;vel, a mente do futuro &eacute; inating&iacute;vel&quot;. &quot;Que mente voc&ecirc; vai revigorar com este alimento? Responda e eu lhe darei o alomento. Se voc&ecirc; n&atilde;o puder responder, voc&ecirc; n&atilde;o poder&aacute; t&ecirc;-lo&quot;. Como voc&ecirc; responde?<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">O Sutra diz &quot;a mente do passado &eacute; inating&iacute;vel, a mente presente &eacute; inating&iacute;vel, a mente do futuro &eacute; inating&iacute;vel&quot;. O que &eacute; isto que n&atilde;o &eacute; o passado, nem o presente, nem o futuro? Exatamente agora. O que &eacute; isto? Este sentar \u2013 n&atilde;o importa se voc&ecirc; o conhece ou n&atilde;o. N&atilde;o h&aacute; necessidade de imaginar ao sentar, n&atilde;o se trata de imaginar.  Assim sendo esta vida em a&ccedil;&atilde;o &eacute; nossa pr&aacute;tica, &eacute; o nosso sentar. <\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">Em um coment&aacute;rio do Mumonkan (Port&atilde;o sem port&atilde;o) h&aacute; uma frase &quot;se voc&ecirc; resolver (compreender) este  (koan) voc&ecirc; caminhar&aacute; de m&atilde;os dadas com Joshu, voc&ecirc; caminhar&aacute; de m&atilde;os dadas com os ancestrais&quot;. Eles surgiram tr&ecirc;s a cinco s&eacute;culos antes da compila&ccedil;&atilde;o do Mumonkan; eles surgiram a mais de dez s&eacute;culos atr&aacute;s. O mumon est&aacute; sendo metaf&oacute;rico? N&atilde;o, n&atilde;o &eacute; met&aacute;fora, n&atilde;o &eacute; m&aacute;gica.  Zazen exatamente agora cura o &quot;passado&quot;, repara o &quot;passado&quot;; ser verdadeiramente um neste momento &eacute; ser um com o passado aparente. O passado &eacute; exatamente agora. Esta &eacute; a oportunidade de sentar, de notar emo&ccedil;&atilde;o \u2013 pensamento ligados, de estar presente. Zazen &eacute; ser o presente cheio de alegria, mergulhando na &aacute;gua de nossa vida, sendo a &aacute;gua de vida na qual n&oacute;s nadamos. Isto &eacute; quem somos. Em momentos de desconforto e problemas, podemos pensar  que o sofrimento e a insatisfa&ccedil;&atilde;o resultam de condi&ccedil;&otilde;es \u2013 se eu praticar ent&atilde;o passarei de condicionado a incondicionado, de sofredor a n&atilde;o sofredor. Pensando desta forma, n&oacute;s separamos condicionado de n&atilde;o condicionado. Exatamente agora, condicionado e n&atilde;o condicionado n&atilde;o s&atilde;o dois, absoluto e relativo n&atilde;o s&atilde;o dois; apenas o apego aos pensamentos autocentrados &eacute; que os torna distintos. Porque a experi&ecirc;ncia &eacute; ilimitada, &eacute; verdadeira, a atividade de cada dia. Preparando a comida, comendo, limpando. Estando doente, tomando rem&eacute;dio, estando bem. N&atilde;o nascido &eacute; este momento nascido. A pr&aacute;tica &eacute; a vida cotidiana; sendo a atividade condicionada n&atilde;o condicionada que sempre somos, isto . Assim,  Buda Shakyamuni diz &quot;Todos os seres da grande terra est&atilde;o iluminados comigo; todos os seres s&atilde;o a sabedoria e a perfei&ccedil;&atilde;o do Thatagatha&quot;. Exatamente agora, passado, presente e futuro s&atilde;o agora.<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">Para tentar fazer zazen, nossa vida, adaptada a uma vis&atilde;o  de &quot;movimento de passado para presente para futuro&quot;, limita-nos, limita nossa pr&aacute;tica, limita este momento aqui e agora. Apegar a tais pensamentos torna o esfor&ccedil;o da pr&aacute;tica em uma maneira de mudar isto para algo mais, crendo nas id&eacute;ias autocentradas, mesmo que seja uma id&eacute;ia de melhoria. Vivenciar a experi&ecirc;ncia, estar presente, n&atilde;o &eacute; nenhum outro lugar. Est&aacute; al&eacute;m destes limites aparentes, os limites e par&acirc;metros de nossos pensamentos. Pensamentos s&atilde;o apenas pensamentos, nem mais nem menos; eles n&atilde;o s&atilde;o o que &eacute; assim. Pr&aacute;tica n&atilde;o &eacute; obter novas id&eacute;ias ou novos sentimentos, n&atilde;o se trata de imaginar coisas, mas ser, notando, respondendo, atuando. Respondendo &agrave;s circunst&acirc;ncias, sendo este mundo de corpo-mente como ele &eacute;. &Eacute; ser pensamentos\/sentimentos &quot;eu gosto&quot;, pensamentos\/sentimentos &quot;eu n&atilde;o gosto&quot;, agrad&aacute;vel, doloroso, respondendo no meio disto, vivenciando a experi&ecirc;ncia este momento f&iacute;sico de emo&ccedil;&atilde;o-pensamento como ele &eacute;. Dando-nos a n&oacute;s mesmos. Este momento atuante. Agora. Is life a stream in which&nbsp; &#8220;I exist&#8221;?&nbsp;Am &quot;I&quot; passing through time?<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">K.Let us explore practice. Do you believe &#8220;I have habits of mind, problems, that I must work with and change?&#8221; Right now &#8211; what do you lack?&nbsp; Being present, is it &#8220;Now I&#8217;m different than I was before?&#8221; Appreciating sitting, is there a sense, &#8220;I&#8217;ve been sitting for a few days and now I can feel more presence, more samadhi, I am better?&#8221; <\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">Right now, the past does not move to the present and the present to the future\u2014 past moving to present, present to future, are constructs of a self centered way of seeing and functioning. Our practice is being present. Whether we emphasize mindfulness, emphasize mindlessness, or emphasize no-mind, practice is awareness, experiencing; this is the practice of now. Holding to self-centeredness, to thoughts, beliefs and reactions, cuts us off from experiencing life, from freely responding. We are cut off from the joy, peace and satisfaction that is our life, and instead live in the midst of the limits of beliefs and reactions and the resulting suffering, pain and harming. Noticing holding thoughts, being present, allows the holding self-centeredness, allows the beliefs that are dissatisfaction, to be transparent, to not limit life; responding now, we are life as it is.<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">Now contains past, present, future, all right now.&nbsp; Because it is now, I practice.&nbsp; Because it is now, practice reaches far beyond what I figure out \u2014 beyond figuring out&nbsp; &quot;how does this work&quot;, and even &quot;how does being present affect my thoughts and habits.&quot; Body-mind-moment, being present now, is not limited by my understanding. Right now is the joy, peace and satisfaction of life. Now is exactly this, being just this moment.&nbsp; Now is healing of seeming self-centeredness, the rift of self and other, of past-future. Ongoing practice is at-one-ment, at one noticing held thoughts, at one being bodily moment, at one functioning. Now heals holding to self; it is noticing holding thoughts of what was done to me, what I did, anger, hurt, should haves, all the stories and suffering of actions and reactions. Expressing sorrow and regret, accepting blame and consequences, now.&nbsp; Being now as this is!<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">There is a nice koan (in Mumonkan Case 28) about an old woman who sells snacks at the roadside. A traveling monk (Teshan) comes by and asks her for a snack.&nbsp; She asks, &quot;what is it you are carrying in your backpack.&quot;&nbsp; He says, &quot;Oh, it is the Diamond Sutra and my commentaries on it.&nbsp; &quot;Oh,&quot; she says, &quot;good, good.&nbsp; The Diamond Sutra states, \u2018past mind is unattainable, present mind is unattainable, future mind is unattainable.\u2019&nbsp; Which mind are you going to refresh with this snack?&nbsp; Answer and I will give you the snack.&nbsp; If you can\u2019t, you can\u2019t have it.&quot; How do you respond?<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">The sutra states&nbsp; &quot;past mind is unattainable, present mind is unattainable, future mind is unattainable.&quot;&nbsp; What is it that is not the past, present or future?&nbsp; Right now. What is this? This sitting &#8211; it does not matter whether you know it or not. No need to figure out sitting, it is not about figuring out. Being this functioning life is our practice, is our sitting.<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">In a commentary of the Mumonkan (Gateless Gate) there is the phrase&nbsp; &quot;if you realize this (koan) you will walk hand in hand with Joshu, you will walk hand in<\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">hand with the ancestors.&quot;&nbsp; They lived three to five centuries before the Mumonkan was compiled; they lived more than ten centuries ago. &nbsp;Is Mumon being metaphorical? No, it is not metaphor, not magic. Zazen right now heals &quot;past&quot;, atones &quot;past&quot;; being at one right now truly is being at one with the seeming past. The past is right now. This is the opportunity of sitting, of noticing the held emotion-thought, of being present. Zazen is to be the joyful present, jumping into the water of our life, being the water of life in which we swim. This is who we are. At times of discomfort and problems, we may think suffering and dissatisfaction result from conditions &#8211; if I practice then I will go from conditioned to unconditioned, from suffering to non-suffering. Thinking this way, we separate conditioned and unconditioned. Right now, conditioned and unconditioned are not two, Absolute and relative are not two; it is only holding to self-centered thoughts that makes them distinct. Because experiencing is boundless, it is straightforward, everyday activity.&nbsp; Preparing food, eating, cleaning up. Being sick, taking medicine, being well. Unborn is this born moment. Practice is ordinary life; being the unconditioned conditioned functioning that we always are, this. So Shakyamuni Buddha says &quot;All beings of the great earth are at this moment enlightened with me; All beings are the wisdom and the perfection of the Tathagatha.&quot;&nbsp; Right now, past, present and future are now.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p ALIGN=\"JUSTIFY\">To try to make zazen, our life, fit into a \u2018past to present to future movement\u2019 perspective, limits us, limits our practice, limits this moment here now. Holding to such thoughts turns practice effort into a way of changing this to something else, believing the self-centered ideas, even if it is a self-centered improvement idea. Experiencing, being present, is not somewhere else. It is beyond these seeming limits, the limits and parameters of our thoughts. Thoughts are just thoughts, no more, no less; they are not what is so. Practice is not getting new ideas or new feelings, not about figuring things out, but being, noticing, responding, functioning. Responding to circumstances, being this body-mind world as it is. It is being thoughts\/feelings &quot;I like&quot;, thoughts\/feelings &quot;I do not like&quot;, pleasurable, painful; responding in the midst of this, experiencing this emotion-thought physical moment as it is.&nbsp; Giving our self to our self.&nbsp; This moment functioning.&nbsp; Now.
